What is advanced skincare ?

We are constantly being told in the news about the latest breakthroughs in the skincare and beauty industry, but what is the difference between high street and high end? and does it really matter how much you spend on your face cream?

Celebrities are regulary endorsing brands and claiming this is what keeps their skin looking great with their "hectic lifestyles" but lets be honest if you had the money you wouldn't be using products that you buy in the supermarket and if your career is based on looking good then you would invest in your key assets? so i do believe that Cheryl Cole may say she's worth it in the presence of L'oreal, however if you look at her skin past and present i would say its a little more then a high street cream, that has evened out her skin tone and gives her that gorgeous glow that we are all desperately envious of!.

Then you have the other end of celebrities who get quoted in magazines as trying the latest up and coming treatments (nightingale poo and snail slime are just a few i have mentioned on my previous blog). Which don't come cheap. so this brings me back to the question does it matter how much you spend on your face cream?

I think, yes it is worth paying a little more on skincare, from personal experience, high street products stopped suiting my skin in my late teens, i then moved onto professional brands (Decleor, Dermalogica).  then they weren't making much of a difference and i have in the last 18 months moved onto advanced skincare. But it appears its not just me moving in the advanced step, many brands now are adding to their range for those who want a little more, so is this a sign that we are wanting and expecting more?

The high street brands are always chasing the tails of the professionals, but in order to stay at a great price the quality of the ingredients is what mainly differs in high street and high end brands.

High end will use stronger strengths of ingredients, high street will possibly use some of the same ingredients but in a much much weaker strength,

The prof is in the pudding and if you look at the celebrities who have looked after their skin in comparison to the woman in our life who have not we know who looks better, but of course there are exemptions to the rule.

So i think yes it does matter how much you spend on a face cream but i am aware that not everyone can afford £20 + in lotions and potions. but for me personally YES YES YES to invest invest invest.

Dermaquest face wash review

Dermaquest was started by Sam Dhatt an award winning cosmecutical chemist who has worked on over 700 product formulations for various brands before creating Dermaquest in 1999. Dermaquest only use pure ingredients in there professional treatments, home care range and make up.

This face wash is aimed at Acne prone skin, and bacterial breakouts, the key ingredient is Triclosan 0.5% which is an anti bacterial agent, combined with the Enzymes which eat up the bacteria for a real deep down clean without microbeads or grains.
I was recommended this as my skin kept breaking out, after using this face wash my clogged pores have gotten better and the nasty bacterial breakout has cleared.

But its not the easiest of face washes to use! that may sound a silly thing to say, but it takes quite a while to get a good lather going, i don't expect a mass of bubbles but it would be nice it it foamed up quicker, you have to make sure you rinse it off very well, if not you end up with a sticky residue, as much as i don't mind taking a minute or so to give my face a good wash in the morning and evening, this did seem like a bit of hard work, but when I'm juggling my own routine with the children's this just eats into my allocated time! I will finish the bottle but i would go for something a little easier to  apply next time.

I have also been using a few serums and creams from Dermaquest so will let you know my thoughts on those.
